Home improvement. Your expertise, your business.

Who is this home improvement pathway for?

Independent construction and skilled-trade businesses can introduce their specialties for defined property projects. Review project requirements, capability and lawful authority before deciding whether to bid or accept.

A guide for independent businesses: review the scope and make your own decision.

This pathway is for independent construction and trade businesses in drywall, framing, flooring, painting, finish carpentry, electrical, plumbing, mechanical/HVAC, and related improvement specialties. Opportunities are matched to demonstrated capability and legal authority; “multi-trade” never overrides license boundaries.

Each work order should state the defined result, plans or specifications, known site conditions, customer selections, allowance assumptions, permit responsibility, schedule constraints, documentation, and proposed price. The partner independently evaluates labor, sequencing, subcontractors, materials, code obligations, and commercial risk before acceptance.

Licensing, permits, and inspections

Electrical, plumbing, and mechanical/HVAC work commonly requires state or local licenses, contractor registrations, permits, and inspections. Structural changes, framing, egress, fire assemblies, gas work, and major alterations may also require engineered documents or local approval. The partner must verify the authority having jurisdiction, pull permits when assigned by contract, use properly licensed personnel, schedule inspections, and stop when concealed conditions change the lawful scope.

Partners choose whether to bid or accept each project, remain free to work for others, and receive no guaranteed projects, revenue, profit, or benefits. Price is mutually agreed per work order or approved change order. Go Werks Pro may define customer and outcome requirements but does not direct the partner’s internal construction methods.

3 essential questions before accepting home improvement work

  1. Is the project defined well enough to review? Confirm the requested result, available plans, specifications and customer selections. Identify assumptions and exclusions that need clarification.
  2. Are responsibilities allocated clearly? Review materials, access, schedule constraints, documentation and any responsibilities assigned in the proposed work order. Resolve ambiguity before commitment.
  3. How will changes be handled? Confirm the channel for changed conditions or customer requests. Keep approved changes with the work-order record so the agreed scope remains clear.

Prepare your home improvement business profile

Describe your actual construction or trade specialty, relevant project experience and geographic coverage. Distinguish the work your business performs directly from any permitted subcontracted scope. A concise portfolio description can support an initial conversation; detailed customer records and project documents belong in the designated review process.

Review how the partner pathway works, the customer-care standards and partner resources. Share your actual service area and relevant experience through the custom application form. An introduction starts a review; it does not accept a job or guarantee assignments.

WERKS CREW identifies WHO brings the skill. WERKS EXCHANGE explains WORK and opportunity review. Independent businesses retain their own names, logos, appropriate workwear and choice of work. Exchange samples are illustrative and do not confirm an available job or price.

For broader company planning, see the U.S. Small Business Administration business-management guide. Confirm scope-specific requirements through the designated review process before committing your company.

Home improvement partner questions

Does home improvement participation remove trade boundaries?

No. The existing partner guidance preserves license, permit and inspection responsibilities. Business qualification does not authorize work beyond the company or personnel credentials.

Can my business choose which projects to consider?

Yes. Partners evaluate whether to bid or accept each proposed project. Participation does not guarantee project volume, revenue or profit.

Who manages the construction methods?

The independent partner manages its lawful methods and personnel. Go Werks Pro may define the agreed customer experience and outcome for the accepted work order.
